Piyush Chawla, a professional cricketer has played internationally for the Indian cricket team on multiple occasions. Piyush has played both One Day Internationals and Test cricket for the Indian team. Piyush is a right-handed leg spinner who also occasionally bats with his left hand. On December 24, 1988, Piyush was born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. At the Sonakpur Stadium in Moradabad, Piyush had his initial cricket coaching from Mr. Badruddeen, the national coach. Piyush Chawla was a member of the Indian teams that won both the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 and the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. In his first two Test matches for India’s under-19 squad against England during the 2004–05 season, he took 13 wickets.

Piyush once more had the opportunity to play for the under-19 team in the 2005–06 match against Australia. Piyush finished up with 8 wickets in the five-match Test series against Australia, which they lost. Piyush joined the India B team for the Challenger trophy in 2005–2006. India B played against seniors after defeating India A, and Piyush used a googly to dismiss great Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Piyush played his first class debut game for Central Zone against South Zone in the Duleep Trophy. Piyush performed admirably in every facet of his first game. He grabbed 4 wickets in 8 overs and only gave 8 runs at the 2006 Under-19 World Cup Finals. He made a contribution with the bat as well, scoring 25 runs in the course of the innings.

After Sachin, Piyush became the second-youngest player to represent India in a Test match. In 2006, he made his debut at Mohali against Australia. On May 12, 2007, he participated in his first One Day International (ODI) game against Bangladesh. In his first ODI, he ended up taking 3 wickets, and in the second ODI against Ireland, he again took 3 wickets. For one month, Piyush had the opportunity to play county cricket for Sussex. In his very first county encounter, he batted ninth and finished with 102 runs and taking a total of 8 wickets. In the first innings of the series against England, Piyush made his long-awaited return to the Indian Test team by taking 4 wickets. 

In 2013, Piyush made a comeback to county cricket and was signed by Somerset. Piyush led Gujarat in Ranji Trophy wickets taken for the 2017–18 season in domestic cricket in India. Piyush was also Gujarat’s top wicket-taking bowler in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kings Eleven Punjab was the first team Piyush played for in the Indian Premier League after being acquired by them in 2008. Piyush was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014, and they signed him again in 2018. He was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for the 2020 IPL season, and Mumbai Indians for the 2021 IPL season. Piyush is now playing for the Mumbai Indians after been acquired by the team during the 2023 IPL auctions.
