Charith Asalanka is a Sri Lankan cricketer, born on 29 June 1997 in Elpitiya, Sri Lanka. He is a left-handed batter and right-arm-off spin bowler. The all-rounder hails from Galle, Sri Lanka. Asalanka studied at Richmond College in Galle which is famous for producing crickets. Asalanka led the national under-19 team against Australia and Bangladesh in 2014-15. The left-hand batter was the highest scorer in the five-match limited-overs series against Bangladesh under-19, with 225 runs at 45.00, and second in wicket-taking, with eight wickets at 21.00. These performances caught the eye of the Sri Lankan management and he has been picked for Sri Lanka in all the 3 formats.

In the 2020 season of the Sri Lanka Premier League, he was bagged by the Jaffna Stallions, he went on to be the leading wicket-taker with ten dismissals in six matches. Charith Asalanka is a prominent face in all three formats for Sri Lanka and is improving her record with every match. The youngster is a bright prospect for Lanka in the future.
