Shikha Pandey is an Indian cricket player. She was born on 12 May 1989. Initially Shikha was an Indian Air Force officer (IAF). She worked as an IAF air traffic control officer back in her early days. Currently  s he is a right-arm medium fast bowler and middle-order batter for the national cricket team of India. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a board from which Shikha  received her education in India. She was the first player associated with a state board to represent India at the age of 15. Shikha was more into academics and she didn’t start really pursuing the sport until her second year as a student in Electronics and Electrical Engineering.

Shikha always took academics seriously and had to struggle choosing between cricket and studies to pursue. Shikha used to spend her day doing gym sessions and a 12Km run everyday to reach Mapusa, so she could learn under Nitin Vernekar, who was a former Goa cricketer and sports Authority. This helped her to grow her cricket skills as she was the only girl in the academy. She had to face U-16 and U-19 boys there. Nevertheless, her academics was as good as before. Her grades were good as always. She also got opportunities to work with multinational companies after completing her Engineering form Goa. But she was determined to work hard and make her career in cricket. Later in 2011, she joined IAF and was appointed as air traffic controller.

Shikha was selected in the Indian team under Board President’s XI. She got to play against England and West Indies, who visited for the event back in 2010-11. She grabbed her first international unofficial wicket. She continued her cricket for Goa in the session 2013-14. Then following the 2013-14 Inter-State T20 competition (Plate group) season, Shikha was picked for India’s series against Bangladesh. Series included three friendly matches against Bangladesh. Then she was also selected for 2014 ICC Women’s World Twenty20. She also became the first Goa Cricket Association-affiliated cricketer to represent India at the international level after Dilip Sardesai.  

The T20 World Cup ended but left multiple opportunities for Shikha. She played one Test and two One-Day Internationals against England after the world cup. She played a key role in India’s victory over South Africa on November 26, 2014. She grabbed three wickets and also a knock of 59 runs. Shikha  was also a member of the Indian side that advanced to the final of the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup. There they got defeated by England by nine runs.  She was picked to India’s team for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup which took place in Australia in January 2020. Till now Shikha has played a total of 120 International matches including all the three formats of the game. She has delivered with both bat and ball. She is a fine and experienced allrounder.
