Sharjeel Khan is a professional cricketer from Pakistan, he is a left-hand batter and usually open the batting, he represents the National team in all the formats. Sharjeel is an aggressive left-handed opening batsman who made his first-class debut in 2009. He had a mediocre start to his career, but gradually progressed well to finish his first domestic season with 800 runs. He has risen through the rank rapidly and become a force to reckon with in Pakistan’s domestic circuit. Sharjeel’s ability to take his team off to flying starts makes him a very valuable weapon. Sharjeel showed a lot of consistency and was rewarded in the year 2013, where he made his ODI and T20I debut in a limited overs series against Sri Lanka. In his very first ODI innings, Sharjeel showed his attacking strokeplay by taking on the Sri Lankan new ball attack as he raced away to a run-a-ball 61, which eventually helped Pakistan to a crucial victory.

However, post his debut series, Sharjeel struggled to keep up with the pace at the international level and was not living up to the expectations of the team management, he was left out of the Pakistan ODI squad. However, Sharjeel Khan was drafted in the Pakistan T2 squad for the 2016 ICC World T20, and was the leading run-getter for Pakistan in the tournament, scoring 112 runs, at a brilliant strike rate of 143. On the back of these performances, Sharjeel was picked in the PSL where he was blew hot and cold, he would show occasional brilliance and at times find ways to throw his wicket away which led to his downfall.

In 2017, Sharjeel Khan’s career was at an all-time low, he was provisionally suspended under the Anti-Corruption Code of the PCB, for his involvement in spot-fixing. He missed the 2018 and 2019 seasons of PSL, but was drafted in the Karachi Kings squad ahead of the sixth season of the PSL and came back strongly, he was very aggressive at the top order and played some vital knocks for the team in that season. However, because of his involvement in spot-fixing, it was a certainty that he would never play for Pakistan, he had a promising career ahead of him and he has no one to blame but himself. Sharjeel has been working hard ever since but has been ignored by the selection committee of Pakistan Cricket Board. Sharjeel spoiled his own career by taking the bitter route.
