Pat Cummins is a professional cricketer, who plays for Australian cricket team Internationally. Pat has represented the Australian team in all the three formats of the game. Pat was born on 8 May 1993 in the Westmead region of New South Wales, Australia. He is a right arm fast bowler who specializes in taking wickets in quick succession. He is considered as one of the best Test bowlers of all time. In the ICC rankings as per January, Pat was ranked number 1 bowler in Test cricket. He has been a part of the Australian side that won the 2015 ICC cricket world cup and 2021 ICC T20 world cup. After debuting in International cricket in 2011, Pat had to drop from the side due to his injuries. He didn’t return to International cricket for more than 3 years. In 2015, Pat had his comeback in One Day Internationals. 

Pat was awarded the Allan Border Medal and was named as cricketer of the year by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the cricketing season of 2019. Pat spent his childhood in Mount Riverview in the Blue Mountains. He did his schooling from St. Paul’s Grammar School. He always idolizes Brett Lee, with whom he got the chance to play for a short period of time. Pat used to play junior cricket for Blue Mountains before getting the opportunity to play for Penrith District Cricket Club in 2010. In the semi final against Tasmania in 2010-11 T20 KFC Big Bash tournament, Pat took 4 wickets and helped his team win the match. He was named man of the match and also shared the 1st place as highest wicket taking bowler.

Pat Cummins was first included in the Australian team in June 2011. He got the opportunity to be a part of playing eleven in October 2011 in a series against South Africa. Pat played a couple of T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals for Australia against South Africa. He grabbed 10 wickets and seeing his performance, he was selected in the Test team as well. He became the youngest Test cricketer at the age of 18. Pat took 1 wicket in first and 6 wickets in second innings, becoming second youngest cricketer after Inamul Haque to take 6 wickets in an innings. He was named man of the match for his outstanding performance. He was then dropped for the complete 2011-12 season. Due to a stress fracture in his back, he had to miss most of the 2013-14 season.  

In 2017, Pat came back to Test cricket and played in the Sheffield Shield after 6 long years. Mitchell Starc was replaced by Pat Cummins in the third Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy due to injury. After so many days off from Test cricket, Pat returned and bowled 78 overs in the last 2 Test matches of the series. It was on 26 November 2021, when Pat was chosen as Australia’s Test captain. He was the first full time bowler to become a captain of the Australia team. He grabbed 7 wickets in his first Test being a captain. For the 3rd successive ashes series, Pat became the leading wicket taker. Australia beat England by 4-0 under his captaincy. Pat also holds the record of fastest half century in the Indian Premier League, where he scored 50 in just 14 balls while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders against Mumbai Indians.
