Ollie Robinson is a professional cricketer, who plays for England national cricket team Internationally. Ollie has got the opportunity to represent the England team in Test cricket so far. His potential and performance may open doors for One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals for him. Ollie was born on 1 December 1993 in Margate region of Kent, England. He is one of the tallest players in the team with 6 feet 5 inches height. Ollie is a right arm medium fast bowler who is capable of putting constant pressure on the opposition. Ollie’s height proves to be advantageous for him, as he can bowl bouncers easily and with decent pace. Ollie plays for Sussex in domestic cricket. Previously he has represented Yorkshire and Hampshire as well.

Ollie’s cricketing career began playing for Kent second XI team. He only played a single match and then was transferred to Leicestershire. In the 2013 domestic cricket season, Ollie was signed by Yorkshire. Ollie ended the 2013 season playing for Yorkshire, taking 59 wickets and scoring 1282 runs in the second XI team. In July 2013, Ollie got the opportunity and he played his List A debut match for Yorkshire against Leicestershire. After playing 7 T20 blast matches for Yorkshire, Ollie was dropped by them due to his unprofessional behavior. In the whole 2014 season, Ollie appeared in a single match for Hampshire in List A cricket. When Sussex went short on bowlers due to injuries, they signed Ollie for a short term deal in the 2015 season.

Ollie played his first class debut match for Sussex in 2015. Ollie along with Matt Hobden made Sussex’s highest 9th wicket partnership, as Ollie scored a century. In 95 years of Sussex, Ollie became the first player to score a century on debut. Ollie ended the 2015 season with 46 wickets at an average of 24.71. Ollie was appointed as Sussex’s vice captain in the 2021 season for County Championship matches. Ollie took 9 wickets in April month against Glamorgan and this was the best performance by any English player since 2016. For the 2021 season of The Hundred, Ollie was signed by Manchester Originals in place of Harry Gurney. For the 2022 season of The Hundred, Ollie was once again selected by Manchester Originals. 

Ollie was included in the list of 9 reserve players for England’s first match of the Test series in July 2020. Ollie was selected in England’s team for the second Test match of the series against Pakistan in August 2020. Till 2021, Ollie was selected multiple times and was kept as a reserve player in England’s team for their Test series against several teams. In May, when Ollie was selected in England’s squad, it was quite sure that he would be playing against New Zealand. On 2 June 2021, Ollie played his debut Test match for England against New Zealand. There was an investigation run by the England Cricket Board on Ollie, as he tweeted some racist and sexist tweets back in 2012-13. He was then suspended from all the formats of International cricket. Ollie apologized for his wrong tweets. Later, Oliver Dowden, a secretary for State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport helped to remove the suspension by saying that the tweets are decade old. Ollie was then selected in England’s team for their series against India, where he took his first 5 wicket haul.
