Jonny Bairstow is a professional cricketer, who plays for England cricket team Internationally. Bairstow has represented the England cricket team in all the three formats of the game. Bairstow is a right handed batsman, who usually opens the batting line-up for the team. He is a type of player who can score runs in quick succession and create pressure on the opposition. Bairstow was born on 26 September 1989 in Bradford region of West Yorkshire, England. Bairstow is also a full time wicket keeper. He had his International debut in 2011, when he played both One Day International (ODI) and T20 Internationals (T20I). Bairstow plays for Yorkshire in domestic cricket. He has also been a part of several T20 leagues, such as Indian Premier League (IPL). 

Jonny Bairstow’s father David Bairstow has also represented Yorkshire as a wicket keeper batsman. Bairstow won the Young Wisden Schools Cricketer of the year award, when he played for St. Peter’s School, York and made 654 runs in 2007. Earlier when Bairstow joined Yorkshire, he used to play in Yorkshire 2nd XI. After scoring 308 runs in 6 matches, he was included in the County Championship match of the tournament against Sussex. He failed to make a place in the playing eleven. He then signed a two year contract with Yorkshire. In the 2010 season, Bairstow scored 918 runs in 16 first class matches while playing for Yorkshire. For the 2nd consecutive year he achieved a batting average of 40 plus. In the 2011 season, Bairstow hit his first century of first class cricket. He did that against Nottinghamshire.

In 2011, for the first time Bairstow was selected in England’s One Day International team in a match against Ireland, however, he wasn’t included in the playing eleven. In the same month, Bairstow played his ODI debut match for England against India and scored 41 runs. It was on 23 September 2011, when Bairstow played his T20 Internationals debut match against West Indies. He was named man of the match, after England beat Pakistan on 25 February 2012 in a T20I match. In 2015, Bairstow helped England in winning a series over New Zealand. He was included in the fifth and deciding match of the series in place of Jos Buttler, as he was injured. Bairstow took 2 catches and did one stumping. He also scored important 83 runs and helped England seal the win and the series by 3-2. 

Bairstow was given the opening after he scored 119 runs against Australia, when he was included in place of injured Ben Stokes at no.6 in 2017. In 2018, Bairstow made history in English cricket, as he became the first batsman from England to hit 3 consecutive hundreds in ODIs. Bairstow became part of England’s Ashes series in 2019 to play against Australia, He wasn’t able to create any major impact in the series. Later in the year, Bairstow was included in the England team for the 2019 ICC cricket world cup. He played a crucial part as an opening batsman for England and helped them to win their 1st world cup. Bairstow also became part of the England team that played in the 2021 ICC T20 world cup. Bairstow has been a part of 91 Test, 95 ODI and 66 T20I for England team and has scored a total of 10485 runs.
