Michael Bracewell is a professional New Zealand cricketer. He plays the role of an allrounder in the team and represents the national team in all three formats. He is the cousin of the right-arm pacer, Doug Bracewell and the nephew of former New Zealand Test players Brendon and John Bracewell. In June 2018, Bracewell signed a contract with Wellington. He was brilliant in the Plunket Shield and has put up an impressive show in the shorter formats as well. Bracewell scored a magnificent 141 against Central Stags in the Super Smash for Wellington Firebirds, which is also the highest score ever in the T20 format in New Zealand. He has also shown brilliant captaincy abilities for Wellington in the domestic circuit.
Bracewell went on to lead the Wellington Firebirds skipper and on the back of some brilliant performances for Wellington in the domestic circuit, he was picked in New Zealand’s limited-overs squad for their home series against the Netherlands in 2022. He made his international debut in the same series. Later that year Bracewell was selected for the Test team on tour to England in May 2022 where he made his test debut. The all-rounder has gone from strength to strength and has cemented his place in the team following some match-winning performances. Bracewell’s ability to play aggressive stokes with bat and uncanny ability to pick wickets makes him a valuable player in any team.

Bracewell got his maiden ODI century against Ireland and the off-spinning all-rounder scalped his first hat-trick against Ireland in the T20I series. He is currently a prominent player for the Kiwis in the white ball setup. He was selected in the 2022 World Cup squad and put up a decent show with his all-round abilities. Unfortunately, Bracewell went unsold in the IPL auctions of 2022. He is currently on a tour to India and smashed a hundred in the 1st ODI and threatened to take the game away from India singlehandedly.
