Matthew Renshaw is a professional Australian cricketer. He plays the role of a left-hand batter, he represents the national team in the test format. Renshaw is an old-fashioned player who likes to take his time at the crease, Renshaw was born in Yorkshire and moved with his family to Australia at the age of 10. Renshaw became the youngest batsman for Queensland to score a century in the Sheffield Shield and impressed everyone with his ability to play the long innings. He put a price tag on his wicket and can be gritty on the field. Renshaw has also developed his bowling skills and is seen turning his arm over occasionally for the Brisbane Heat.

Matthew Renshaw was called up to the Australian Test squad at the age of 20 to partner up with David Warner to open the batting at the top order. Renshaw made his Test debut in November 2016 and scored 71 runs on home soil in Brisbane. Batting for form in the 2018-19 Sheffield season, the left-hand batter was sidelined from the Test side due to a lack of consistency and eventually lost the central contract. Renshaw also has a history of calf injuries and was in and out of the game for several months. Renshaw’s ability to anchor the innings and hold one end up makes him a valuable prospect in any test side. Renshaw is yet to make his white ball debut for Australia and looking at his Big Bash league performances in the recent past, definitely opens the door for him in the T20 and ODI setup.

Renshaw was signed by Brisbane Heat prior to the seventh edition of the Big Bash League. He solidified his position in the squad after a fantastic knock of 90 from just 50 balls against Strikers and also proved to be a useful part-time spinner. He was picked up by the Strikers in the 2022 seasons and has come up with the goods for his new franchise. Unfortunately, Renshaw went unsold in the Indian Premier League auctions but managed to bag a contract with the Queensland Bulls in the Australian Domestic circuit. On the back of some brilliant performances, Matthew Renshaw was picked for the Australian tour of India in 2023 and will look to cement his place in the side.
