Veteran South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was born on 4th January 1990). She plays for the South African national women’s cricket team in all three formats. She was the first cricketer for South Africa to claim a hat-trick in a Women’s Twenty20 International match as well. However, in March 2018, she was one of fourteen players to be awarded a national contract by Cricket South Africa for the 2018–19 season. And, in September 2018, she claimed her 100th wicket in WODIs, during the series against the West Indies as well. In October 2018, she was added to South Africa’s squad for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies where she was the highest run-getter for her team in the tournament, with 98 runs in four matches as well. In May 2019, against Pakistan, she became the third cricketer for South Africa to play in 100 WODI matches as well.
On 14 March 2022, in South Africa’s World Cup match against England, Marizanne Kapp picked up her first five-wicket haul in ODI cricket as well. In June 2022, in the one-off Test against England, she smashed her first century in Test cricket, with 150 runs as well. This was also the highest individual score for South Africa in a women’s Test match. The veteran all-rounder also plays for other T20 leagues all over the country. In November 2018, she was added to the Sydney Sixers’ squad for the 2018–19 Women’s Big Bash League season. In September 2019, she was added to the M van der Merwe XI squad for the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 Super League in South Africa as well.
However, in 2021, she was drafted by Oval Invincibles for the inaugural season of The Hundred and in April 2022, she was signed by the famous franchise Oval Invincibles for the 2022 season of The Hundred in England as well. They also won the competition and she was named Player of the Match for her match-winning knock in the final as well. However, in May 2022, she featured in two games for the Falcons team at the 2022 FairBreak Invitational T20 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as well. In the final of the Invitational, against the Tornadoes team, she smashed 67* with six fours and two sixes and won the Player of the Match award as well, but her stunning show was not enough to prevent the Tornadoes from winning the tournament as well. However, she also plays in The Hundred 2023 as well.
