Jack Leach is a professional cricketer who represents England cricket team Internationally. Jack represents England’s Test team and is always a first choice Test cricket spinner. Jack was born on 22 June 1991 in Taunton, Somerset, England. He is often called Leachy by his teammates. Jack is a left arm spinner who specializes in taking wickets while building a constant pressure on the opponents. Jack plays for Somerset in domestic cricket. He completed his graduation from Somerset County Cricket Club academy in the year 2010. Jack completed his post graduation from the University of Wales institute, Cardiff in sports coaching. Jack played for Cardiff MCCU while attending university and played his debut first class match against Somerset in March 2012.

In July 2012, against Touring South Africans, Jack played his debut match for Somerset. He took the wicket of Hashim Amla in that match. Jack played his first class debut match for Somerset against Lancashire in 2012 in the 2012 County Championship. Jack’s 2012-13 winter season went while playing grade cricket for Valley District Cricket Club  in Brisbane, Australia. Jack got the chance to play his first championship match for Somerset against Warwickshire in pre-season, as George Dockrell was injured. Jack grabbed his first 5-fer in the second innings of the match and bowled 24 maiden overs. In the 2021 T20 Blast, Jack got to play his T20 debut match for Somerset on 23 June 2021.

Jack while playing for England Lions on 14 February 2018 against West Indies A, took 8 wickets for 110 runs. He broke the previous record of Graeme Swann taking 8 wickets for 156 runs. In 2018, Jack was included in England’s Test team for the first time. In England’s tour of New Zealand, Jack played his debut Test match in Christchurch. After getting replaced by Adil Rashid, Jack was again called up for England’s tour of Sri Lanka in the 2018 winter. He wasn’t part of the series against West Indies but was called up for the single Test match against Ireland. Jack was sent at the top of the batting order as a nightwatchman. Jack was named man of the match for his 92 runs innings and bowling contribution.  

Jack was included in England’s Test team for their 2021-22 Ashes series. He was the first choice bowler above all for the selectors. He was chosen before Stuart Broad, despite the pitch being made to help the fast bowlers. Later he was chosen in England’s team for their series against New Zealand. In the last Test match of the series, Jack took his first 10 wickets haul of his career. He took 10 wickets and gave 166 runs in a match. In the winter Test season, Jack took a total of 25 wickets in 5 Test matches against teams like Pakistan, New Zealand and others. Jack Leach ended the 2022 year as the third highest wicket taking bowler in the world after Kagiso and Nathon.
