Jason Roy is a professional cricketer, who plays for England cricket team Internationally. He has represented the national team in One Day International and T20I formats of the game. Jason plays for Surrey in domestic cricket and also plays for various clubs in several T20 leagues. Jason was born on 21 July, 1990 in Durban, South Africa. He along with his family shifted from South Africa to England when he was just a child. He is a right handed batsman who opens the batting line-up. He has been playing for Surrey in domestic cricket since he was under 11. Jason is known for his aggressive batting style. He takes on the bowlers and attacks them with his wide variety of shots.

Against Middlesex on 27 June 2008, Jason played his debut T20 match for Surrey. It was on 20 July 2008, when he played his List A debut match for Surrey against Yorkshire in Natwest Pro40 League. Jason had an outstanding performance in the 2010 season, as he scored three consecutive hundreds in tournament matches against Essex, Sussex and Durham. Jason set the record for scoring a hundred against Kent, as it was the first century by any Surrey batsmen in T20 cricket. Against Leicestershier on 24 August 2010, he played his first class debut match at Grace Road. He has been a part of Sylhet Sixers in Bangladesh Premier League in 2018-19 season.

In the 2016-17 season of Big Bash League, Jason has played for Sydney Sixers. He had to pull himself out of the tournament due to the back injury from the training sessions. In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he was signed by Lahore Qalandars for 70,000 USD. Later in the 2018 season of PSL he was acquired by Quetta Gladiators. He has been a part of several Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises like Gujarat Lions, Delhi Daredevils, Delhi Capitals. In the 2022 season of The Hundred, he was bought by Oval Invincibles. Currently in IPL he is signed by Kolkata Knight Riders, as he was bought by them after he went unsold in 2023 auctions. Jason has played 3 matches for KKR this season and has scored 160 runs so far. 

Against India in September 2014, Jason played his T20 International (T20I) debut match for England. Jason was selected to play his One Day International (ODI) debut match against Ireland, but the match was dismissed due to bad weather. He was then selected to play against New Zealand in an ODI series of 5 matches. Jason was part of England’s team that won the 2019 ICC world cup. Jason along with Alex Hales hold the record of having the highest partnership of 256 runs against Sri Lanka in 2016. Jason also has the record of scoring highest ODI score by any England batsman, as he scored 180 runs against Australia in 2019.
