Gudakesh Motie was born on March 29, 1995. He is a Guyanese cricketer who represents Guyana in West Indian domestic cricket. He is a left arm orthodox bowler. His debut for the West Indies cricket team in the International  happened in December 2021.  Motie represented the West Indies under-19s in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup, which took place in the UAE. His first-class debut for Guyana against the Windward Islands  In the 2015-16 Regional Four Day Tournament happened in November 2015. Motie took 6 wickets for 20 runs and 5 wickets for 85 in only his second game, against the Leeward Islands. He was awarded man of the match for that performance. In the match against Barbados, Motie took 6 wickets for 79 runs and added his fourth five-wicket haul of the season two games later. 

Gudakesh Motie was selected to Guyana’s side for the 2019-20 Regional Super50 event in October 2019. He took  16 wickets in the tournament and became the leading wicket-taker in the 2021 Super50 series. In the Caribbean Premier League, Motie made his debut In Twenty20 for the Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 2, 2021. From There Motie was picked to the West Indies’ One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) teams. He was selected for their series against Pakistan in November 2021. He made his T20I debut for the West Indies against Pakistan on December 16, 2021. He was picked to the West Indies ODI team for their series against Ireland in December 2021.

Motie hit his first first-class century in a match against Barbados in May 2022. This happened in the third round of the 2021-22 West Indies Tournament. He  was then selected by the West Indies Test team for their series against Bangladesh the following month. He made his West Indies Test debut against Bangladesh on June 16, 2022. Motie was also selected to the West Indies One Day International team for their series against Bangladesh later that month. On 10 July 2022, he made his ODI debut for the West Indies against Bangladesh. Motie recently broke the 73 years old record in his third Test match and takes the third place in the West Indies all time list.

Motie is a young player who is full of potential. His bowling figures are undoubtedly amazing despite getting less chances in the International matches. Motie has played a total of 9 international matches including all the three formats of the game. Motie has played 4 test matches and 8 innings in which he has shown astonishing results. In 8 innings he has taken 22 wickets with an economy of 3.1. In 4 ODI matches Motie has taken 8 wickets with an economy of 3.65. He got to play only 1 T20 international in which he wasn’t able to take any wicket. But Motie has potential and hunger to play for the country. He can turn out to be an important player for the West Indies in the upcoming World Cup.
