Chris Woakes is a professional cricketer, who plays for England cricket team Internationally. Chris Woakes has represented the England cricket team in all the three formats of the game. Chris plays for Warwickshire in domestic cricket and he has played for several other franchises in different T20 leagues. Chris was born on 2 March 1989 in the Birmingham region of West Midlands, England. He is often called Wooky by his teammates. Chris has been a part of the England national team since 2011, as he did his debut back then. Chris is a complete all rounder, as he is a right handed batsman and a right arm medium fast bowler. Chris has delivered match performances several times for his team.  

Chris has been a part of the game since he was 7 years old. His first cricket club was Four Oaks Saints Cricket Club. He did his schooling from Barr Beacon Language College in Walsall. Chris was part of the Warwickshire’s under 15 and under 17 teams. Till the age of 14, Chris also played football for Walsall F.C. as a wingman. Earlier in 2006, Chris used to play for Warwickshire second XI and he played his first match for them against West Indies and took 3 wickets. In 2008, Chris became an important part of the Warwickshire first XI team. In the 2008 season, he took a total of 42 wickets with an average of 20.57. It was on 6 April 2009, when Chris was selected by England Lions and he played his debut match for them against West Indies. He took 6 wickets in his first match.

Chris has been a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for several seasons. His first team was Kolkata Knight Riders, as they signed him in 2017 season of IPL. Chris took 17 wickets in 13 matches for them. In the 2018 season of IPL, Chris was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He played 5 matches for RCB and took 8 wickets. Chris went unsold for the next season. In the 2020 season of IPL, Chris was signed by Delhi Capitals, but he pulled himself out of the tournament for the England Test series. His first match for DC came in the 2021 season against Chennai Super Kings. For the 2022 season of The Hundred, Chris was signed by Birmingham Phoenix.  

It was on 12 January 2011, when Chris played his T20 International debut match for England against Australia in Adelaide. Chris took 1 wicket and scored the final runs for his team, making his team win the match. In the same series, Chris played his debut One Day International match against Australia. In the second ODI, Chris took 6 wickets and gave just 45 runs. In the final match of the Ashes series, Chris played his debut Test match against Australia on 21 August 2013. In the 2019 world cup semi final match against Australia, Chris was named man of the match for his outstanding performance. He took 3 wickets and also scored some runs. In the 2022 ICC T20 world cup, Chris was part of the England’s team that went on to win the finals after defeating Pakistan
