Andre Russell is a professional cricketer from Jamaica, who represents the West Indies cricket team Internationally. Andre was born on 29 April 1988 in Kington, Jamaica. He is an all round cricketer, as he can contribute in both batting and bowling departments. He is a right handed batsman and a right arm medium pace bowler. Andre is known for his aggressive batting style. He is capable of scoring runs in quick succession, as he is known for hitting huge boundaries. He has been a part of several teams in several T20 leagues around the world. He has played around 300 T20 matches in T20 tournaments in different nations. He played in the West Indies team that won the 2012 and 2016 ICC T20 world cups.

In domestic cricket, Andre played for Barnards Green Cricket Club in England. Andre, while playing against India A, became the first bowler to take 4 consecutive wickets in a T20 match. In November 2010, Andre played his Test cricket debut match against Sri Lanka. He has played only a single Test match in his entire career. His One Day International debut came against Ireland in 2011 ICC cricket world cup. He was selected for a ODI series of West Indies against India, in which he was not included in the playing 11 in first 2 matches. He scored 92 runs from just 64 balls in the 3rd ODI and was named man of the match for his performance in the 5th ODI. He took 4 wickets and gave just 35 runs against India.

Andre became part of the West Indies team that played in the 2019 ICC cricket world cup. While playing against Australia in the world cup, he became the fastest batsman in terms of balls faced to reach 1000 runs in ODI. He reached 1000 runs in just 767 balls. Unfortunately, he had to get replaced by Sunil Ambris, due to the knee injury from the tournament.  Andre scored his first T20 International half century in a match against Australia on 9 July 2021. He also became part of the West Indies team that played in the 2021 ICC T20 world cup. Russell has been a part of Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2012. He was first signed by Delhi Daredevils in 2012 for INR 2.4 crores.

In the 2014 season of Indian Premier League, Andre was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders. Since then he has been a part of KKR in the IPL. He has been one of the most important players for KKR in terms of both batting and bowling. In the 2019 season of IPL, Andre won the super striker award for having the highest strike rate in the tournament and was named as man of the tournament. He was the highest run scorer and the highest wicket taking bowler for KKR that season. Andre has been a part of Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Bangladesh Premier League, Lanka Premier League, Global T20 Canada, The hundred and others. He always had a significant role to play in whichever team he played throughout the world.
