Lancashire is all set to take on Leicestershire in the seventh match of the Vitality T20 Blast 2023 at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday, May 25. Lancashire started their campaign on a high note as they registered a comfortable four-wicket win against Derbyshire to open their account in the Vitality T20 blast 2023 as well. Bowling first, Luke Wood did an amazing job with an economical spell and claimed three crucial wickets to restrict Derbyshire to a below-par total of 179/5 in 20 overs as well.
While chasing 180, Luke Wells helped the side have a brilliant start in the powerplay as the opener played a quick-fire knock of 66 runs off just 35 balls which came at a strike rate of 188.57. Some valuable contributions from Daryl Mitchell (31) and Rob Jones (21*) in the end helped Lancashire win the game with four balls in hand.
On the other hand, Leicestershire had an average outing in the last edition of the tournament as they finished fourth in the north group with 16 points only, having won eight of their 14 games. However, the arrival of Naseem Shah will strengthen their bowling unit as they will be looking to start their campaign with a win this year as well.
The tournament won’t be seen on television. However, it will be live-streamed on Sony LIV.
