The IPL 2021 double-header started off on a dramatic note with the first match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Virat Kohli’s team won the toss and chose to bowl in the day game. However, their plans for a big score were thwarted with Varun Chakravarthy causing havoc. In his first over, the spinner got the big wicket of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar cheaply as Royal Challengers Bangalore stumbled. The action started in the second over itself.

Chakravarthy bowled a tossed-up delivery that drifted away outside off. Kohli was not to the pitch of the ball and he ended up slicing the drive over cover. Tripathi ran back, kept his eyes on the ball and took a brilliant catch. Kohli fell for 5 but more magic followed in the last ball.

Patidar also falls

Chakravarthy bowled a flatter delivery that drifted back in and Patidar was caught on the back foot. He tried to defend but the ball ricocheted off the back pad and knocked the off stump back. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore have been boosted by some aggression from Glenn Maxwell. The Big Show has started aggressively with two fours and one six in the final over of the powerplay bowled by Shakib Al Hasan.

At the end of the powerplay overs, Royal Challengers Bangalore have reached 45/2. Maxwell has led the mini-recovery and he will be eager to ensure he gets a big score.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have won both their games in IPL 2021. Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, are coming off a heart-breaking loss to Mumbai Indians. In IPL 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore won both their matches against Kolkata Knight Riders. Overall, it is KKR who hold a slight head-to-head advantage, having a 14-12 record in 26 games.
