Update on Virat Kohli's Injury Ahead of WTC Final

Sanjay Bangar believed that the injury might cause some discomfort but is unlikely to be a serious matter.

Sanjay Bangar, the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore confirmed that Virat Kohli suffered a minor knee niggle during their match against the Gujarat Titans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. It came as a big blow for team India as we approach the ICC World Test Championship Finals. However, Sanjay Bangar (ex-Indian team batting coach and current head coach of RCB) assured fans that there is no need to worry about Kohli’s overall fitness as it was just a slight issue and he will mostly be fit for the game.

RCB faced GT in the last match of their season, during the match, Kohli left the field after injuring his knee while taking a remarkable catch to dismiss Vijay Shankar. Virat Kohli was slightly uncomfortable, but looking at his fitness, this injury will heal in no time. In a press conference after the match, Bangar downplayed concerns about Kohli’s injury, aiming to calm the fears of supporters. He acknowledged the minor knee niggle but expressed confidence that it is not a significant concern.

“Yes, he had a slight knee niggle. But I don’t think it’s anything serious. Scoring two back-to-back hundreds within four days is a remarkable achievement. Kohli is someone who wants to contribute not only with the bat but also in the field. He did a lot of running around,” said Sanjay Bangar (RCB’s Head Coach)

Bangar highlighted Kohli’s exceptional achievement of scoring consecutive centuries within four days and praised his determination to contribute with the bat and in the field, which involves a lot of running. Despite Kohli’s extensive on-field involvement, including playing a 40-over match and 35 overs on Sunday, Bangar believed that the injury might cause some discomfort but is unlikely to be a serious matter.
