Team India delivered a comprehensive performance, defeating Australia by 44 runs in the second match to take a 2-0 lead in the five-game series! Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Australia saw the Indian openers, particularly Yashasvi Jaiswal, provide a strong start despite their use of five different bowlers in the Powerplay. Jaiswal, with a blazing 53 off 25 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes, formed a solid opening partnership of 77 runs with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Nathan Ellis dismissed Jaiswal in the penultimate ball of the Powerplay.

Ishan Kishan and Gaikwad then built a substantial second-wicket partnership, accumulating 87 runs. Kishan played aggressively, scoring a quick 52 off 32 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. After Kishan’s departure in the 16th over, Suryakumar Yadav contributed a brief cameo, and Gaikwad, with a patient 58 off 43 balls, became the third Indian to achieve a half-century in the match. Rinku Singh, with an unbeaten 31 off 9 balls, and a small cameo from Tilak Varma (7* off 2) propelled India to a formidable total of 235/2 in 20 overs. The breakthroughs for Australia were made by Ellis (3/45) and Stoinis (1/27).

Facing a daunting run-chase, Australia made a decent start, with openers Matthew Short (19 off 10) and Steven Smith (19 off 16) putting up 35 runs quickly. However, Ravi Bishnoi, introduced early into the attack, dismissed Short for the second time in the series and took care of centurion Josh Inglis. Tilak Varma’s stunning catch contributed to Inglis’s dismissal. Australia continued to lose wickets, with Jaiswal’s superb catch sending Smith back, and the team reached 4/58 in 7.2 overs.

Tim David (37 off 22) and Marcus Stoinis (45 off 25) staged a powerful comeback, forming an 81-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Bishnoi, returning to the attack, broke the partnership by dismissing David in the 14th over, triggering a collapse that reduced Australia to 9/155 from 4/139.

Bishnoi ended with figures of 4-0-32-3, while Axar Patel finished with figures of 4-0-25-1. Prasidh Krishna took three wickets, making a strong comeback after a challenging first over. Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar also contributed with a wicket each. Matthew Wade, standing alone, remained unbeaten at 42 off 23 balls, hitting 4 sixes and a four. He formed an unbeaten partnership of 36 runs for the final wicket with Tanveer Sangha, helping Australia reach 191/9.
