Sydney Sixers will take on Sydney Thunder at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on 21st January, Saturday in the 50th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) this season. The Big Bash League 2022-23 season will run from December 13 until the final on February 4, Cricket Australia announced the schedule, which also included a 56-game regular season plus five finals match as well. The season will be hosted across 17 different venues which also include three new grounds — Albury, Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, and North Sydney Oval. The first game of this season has taken place between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars on December 13 at the Manuka Oval.

Meanwhile, defending champions Perth Scorchers, meanwhile, will begin their title defence on December 17 against Sydney Sixers as well. However, BBL 2022-23 will continue to be an eight-team T20 league which will see Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Thunder, Brisbane Heat, and Sydney Sixers compete for the big trophy as well.

Pitch Report

The pitch at SCG is slightly on the slower side and it is known to help the slow bowlers as well. Teams have found it tough to chase on the pitch and only once in the last four games played at the venue has a side who had batted second won the match as well. However, both Thunder and Sixers have a stunning batting line-up and one can expect them to do well with the bat or even chase down any total despite the fact that the sides might decide to bowl first after winning the toss as well.
