Stafanie Taylor became the second West Indies bowler after Anisa Mohammad to take a hat-trick in Twenty20 Internationals. On the back of Taylor’s hat-trick, West Indies defeated Pakistan by six wickets to achieve a 3-0 whitewash in the series. Stafanie Taylor’s hat-trick was the 20th instance in Twenty20 Internationals as West Indies showed their mettle in the series. For Pakistan, their batting once again unfolded in the face of some disciplined bowling.

Pakistan chose to bat and Muneeba Ali got the side off to a flier. However, captain Javeria Khan’s troubles continued as she was dismissed for 4. Pakistan never got going and their efforts to build partnerships all went in vain. Aliya Riaz was the top scorer with 29 but there was no support from the other end.

Pakistan managed to cross 100 but it was then that Taylor struck. Fatima Sana was trapped LBW in the first ball. Diana Baig was stumped by Kycia Knight and Stafanie Taylor achieved the hat-trick when Anam Amin was bowled first ball. Pakistan ended on 102 all out.

West Indies dominate thanks to Stafanie Taylor

Pakistan had their moments when West Indies came to bat. Hayley Matthews fell to Anam Amin for 1. Deandra Dottin hit a six and a four but she fell to Diana Baig. The Pakistan bowler was also on a hat-trick when she dismissed Kyshona Knight first ball. But, Chidean Nation survived the hat-trick.

Nation and Chinelle Henry had a scary moment in the second Twenty20 International when they both collapsed on the field and taken to hospital. Nation came back but Henry was left out of the side. Taylor and Nation stitched a solid partnership that eased some of the nerves. The 41-run partnership ended when Nida Dar sent back Nation for 20.

However, West Indies suffered no further jolts as Kycia Knight joined Taylor in taking the side over the line. Taylor finished unbeaten on 43 and Knight finished on 24 as West Indies won the match by six wickets to sweep the series. Taylor, unsurprisingly, was named the Player of the Match for her all-round exploits.

The performance by the West Indies women team gave some cheer after the men’s team lost the Twenty20 International series to South Africa 2-3.

West Indies players aim to sustain domination

The West Indies women players will now take on Pakistan in five ODIs at Coolidge. The Windies men’s team will take on Australia in five Twenty20 Internationals and three ODIs. After the end of the Australia series, West Indies will end their Caribbean summer with five Twenty20 Internationals and two Tests against Pakistan.

The 3-0 scoreline by the West Indies women’s team extended their advantage against Pakistan to 13-3 in 16 matches. Three matches have been tied in their encounters and all the time, the West Indies have emerged victorious. In 25 ODIs between Pakistan and West Indies, the Windies have won 18 and lost seven.
