The Royal London Cup 2022 started on August 2 with the clash between Glamorgan and Derbyshire. The 18 teams featuring in the Royal London Cup 2022 were divided into two groups – Group A and Group B that too randomly. The participating teams in the Royal London Cup 2022 include — Durham, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire, Middlesex, Nottinghamshire, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex, and Warwickshire in Group A while Derbyshire, Essex, Glamorgan, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Worcestershire and Yorkshire are placed in Group B.

Meanwhile, Northamptonshire will take on Essex in their second game on August 7, Sunday at County Ground in Hove in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2022. However, Northamptonshire started their campaign with a 33-run defeat against Yorkshire in a rain-curtailed match. Meanwhile, Essex’s first match against Lancashire was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain and their match against Derbyshire is their series opener as well.
