Rohit Sharma is India’s current captain in all three forms. However, the right-handed batsman took over full captaincy duties only this year, when Virat Kohli stepped down as captain in all formats.
Some players struggled to perform well under the new captain, Rohit Sharma. They did, however, excel under Virat Kohli. Here we look at the three players who have not been at their best under Rohit’s captaincy.

Axar Patel

The first name on this list is Axar Patel. If we look at Axar Patel’s Test career, we can see that he performed better under Virat Kohli than under Rohit Sharma. Last year, the left-arm spinner averaged 11.86 wickets in 10 Test innings. However, he took three wickets in two Test innings this year, with an average of 19.33. He was also absent from several Test series. Even in the T20 World Cup in Australia, he was one of the poor performers in the team.

Rishabh Pant

Another player on this list is Rishabh Pant. If we look at Rishabh Pant’s T20I history for India, we can see that he performed well under Virat Kohli but not so well under Rohit Sharma. In 2021, the left-handed batsman scored 213 runs at an average of 30.42 in 10 T20Is. However, under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in 2022, the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 364 runs in 21 games at an average of just 21.34.

Mayank Agarwal

The next player on this list is Mayank Agarwal. The right-handed batsman is an India Test specialist. Agarwal scored 353 runs in four Tests in 2021, averaging 44.12. He also called out 1 tonne and 2 fifties. However, under Rohit Sharma in 2022, Agarwal only managed 130 runs in 7 innings at an average of 18.57. He even made his ODI debut under Kohli and was part of the plans for the One Day team but now he is nowhere close and surprisingly he has also lost his position as captain in Punjab Kings.
