On January 7, the Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers will play in the 33rd game of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022–23 at Perth Stadium. Perth Scorchers, the defending Big Bash League champions, were defeated by Sydney Thunder in their most recent game after winning four straight games. With two victories in seven games, the Brisbane Heat have not had the best of seasons. For the Heat, players like Michael Neser and Colin Munro have excelled, and they will be motivated to earn the two points. The Scorchers have a star-studded lineup and will start as the favourites despite missing Jhye Richardson and Faf du Plessis.

Speedster Lance Morris, who was discharged by Australia management after failing to make the playing XI in Australia’s third Test against South Africa at the SCG, might fill in for Richardson in the lineup. With the average first-innings score this season being 141, the Perth Stadium pitch has benefitted the bowlers. Pacers have benefited the most from the quick and bumpy surface, taking 71% of the wickets there.
