The first Test of New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan will take place on Monday (December 26) at Karachi’s National Stadium. The match will be played exactly two years after Pakistan was humiliated in a two-match series in New Zealand. New Zealand has won the last three Tests against Pakistan and will not accept anything less than victory in the forthcoming matches under new skipper Tim Southee. Following a hammering by England earlier this month, Pakistan’s back is already against the wall.
The tale of New Zealand, the first-WTC winner, parallels that of Pakistan. They last played a Test series in June of this year, when they were annihilated by New Zealand. Kane Williamson, who last struck a century in Test cricket in January of last year, has opted to resign as captain this month. So, New Zealand cricket is about to enter a new era, and it will be intriguing to see how they play in the coming months.
