New Zealand get off to a poor start in the powerplay as Shaheen strikes early

New Zealand won the toss and opt to bat first. Shaheen Shah Afridi struck in the first over as he found Finn Allen (4 off 3) plumb infront of the stumps. While Devon Conway and Kane Williamson tried to rebuild the innings, a brilliant piece of fielding by Shadab Khan found Conway (21 off 20) short of his ground as he was runout in the final delivery of the powerplay. Glenn Phillips (6 off 8) couldn’t continue the momentum he had in the league stages, and after 8 overs, New Zealand were reduced to 3/49.

Babar and Rizwan take Pakistan off to a fantastic start

Pakistan got off a brilliant start. The opening pair hammered the bowlers all around the park in the Powerplay and took the game after from the Black Caps. Babar and Rizwan who failed to live up to the expectations throughout the tournament glued a 105 runs partnership together. Mohammed Haris joined Rizwan after the skipper was out.
