On Friday, November 25, the first One-Day International (ODI) between India (IND) and New Zealand (NZ) would be played at Eden Park. Following an inconsistent T20I series, India and New Zealand will now play ODIs. Three of the last five One-Day Internationals have been lost by the hosts. They do, however, have a strong roster that includes players like Finn Allen and Matt Henry. Although the Kiwis will begin as favourites, India boasts a solid roster led by Shikhar Dhawan. Despite the absence of their greatest players, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the Indians overcame South Africa in their previous ODI series and will be confident of victory against New Zealand.

New Zealand has also benefited from the return of skipper Kane Williamson, who missed the third T20I at Napier due to “pre-arranged medical reasons.” His consistent presence on the field will help the Kiwis. He, for one, would like to be among the runners. This series is significant for New Zealand because it is part of the World Super League and there are 30 points on the line. NZ would like to accumulate as many points as possible in order to improve their chances of qualifying for next year’s World Cup in India.
