In the Indian Premier League, audiences are thrilled when batsmen hit a six. The sight of the ball sailing into the stands makes for maximum entertainment. There are some batsmen who have mastered the art of big six-hitting. Many batsmen hit sixes on a regular basis. Others struggle. In the 12-year history of the Indian Premier League, many batsmen have hit over 100 sixes which display their strength and clarity. Here are some of the players who are the ultimate masters of six-hitting in the Indian Premier League. There is a fair mixture of Indian players as well as overseas, with one Universe Boss dominating the list.

Chris Gayle – 349 sixes

The Bradman of Twenty20 cricket. Gayle is the leading six-hitter in the history of the IPL. The West Indies player is also the leading six-hitter in all of Twenty20 cricket. With an average of 40 and a strike-rate of 150, Gayle is truly one of the greats. In IPL 2021, he will become the first player in history to hit 350 sixes. Gayle also holds the record for the most sixes in an innings. In 2013, Gayle hit 17 sixes in his knock of 175 in the game against Pune Warriors. Gayle is truly a six-hitting monster.

AB de Villiers – 235 sixes

Mr.360 is truly remarkable. He can sweep fast bowlers, play reverse sweeps, lap and ramp shots of any bowler in any part of the ground. AB de Villiers can hit sixes in any part of the ground. He can also change gears in a blink of an eye. De Villiers has smashed 235 sixes and he is second in all-time list of six-hitters in the IPL. With Gayle and de Villiers in Royal Challengers Bangalore, it remains a mystery as to why they never won the IPL.

MS Dhoni – 216 sixes

Thala is truly the trendsetter when it comes to Indian cricket. He is the only captain to have won all ICC tournaments. He is only the second captain after Rohit Sharma to win both the IPL and Champions League T20s. But, MS Dhoni is truly a finisher par excellence. His six-hitting capabilities might be declining now. Initially, he was a monster six-hitter. His helicopter shots were a delight and his ability to clear the fence was supreme. He still leads the table when it comes to six-hitting among Indians.

Rohit Sharma – 213 sixes

The Mumbai Indians skipper has emerged as the ultimate six-hitter in world cricket. He has hit over 100 sixes against Australia and is currently the leading six-hitter in World T20. He is also the leading six-hitter when it comes to Indian cricket. Rohit Sharma will beat the record of MS Dhoni in the near future. With Mumbai Indians winning five titles, it is no surprise that Rohit’s big-hitting is making the ultimate difference.

Virat Kohli – 201 sixes

Virat Kohli is the ultimate run-machine in international cricket. In the IPL, the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper has created many records. He is second in the list of all-time centuries.
