Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were one of the two new franchises that made their debut in IPL 2022. KL Rahul led the side and team management put together a brilliant squad at the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction. In its first season of IPL, LSG finished 3rd in the table, they were very impressive and looked like contenders to win the trophy. They faced 4th place Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator Match and were knocked out by them at that stage. LSG retained most of the squad ahead of the IPL Auction, they added some valuable players in the auction and have strengthened their team further.
LSG bagged Nicholas Pooran in the auction for a huge sum of INR 16 crore, some would argue about this selection as Pooran hasn’t been in the best of form in the last few months. Daniel Sams was picked for INR 75 lakh and Jaydev Unadkat for INR 50 lakh. Yash Thakur, Romario Shepherd, Amit Mishra, Prerak Mankad, Swapnil Singh, Naveen-ul-Haq and Yudhvir Charak were the other players added. LSG have a well-balanced unit, they can beat any team on a given day and will be one of the contenders to win the trophy in 2023.
