Punjab Kings have chosen to bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Wednesday. This will be the first match of the Ram Navami double-header, with the second game taking place between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai. Both teams made a couple of changes. KL Rahul’s team included Moises Henriques and Fabian Allen in the team. Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith were omitted. Murugan Ashwin, the legspinner, also returned.

For the Sunrisers Hyderabad, they made three major changes. Kane Williamson, who missed out on the first three games due to injury, returned to replace Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Abdul Samad is ruled out due to a hamstring injury. This has given an opportunity for Kedar Jadhav to debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Manish Pandey, who has struggled, has been replaced by Siddarth Kaul

Battle of the bottom-rankers

Punjab Kings have won only one out of their three games. That win was a narrow four-run win against Rajasthan Royals in their first game of the tournament. After the win, Punjab Kings lost to Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been plagued by inconsistency.

They lost their first game to Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore, they suffered a six-run loss while they collapsed against Mumbai Indians. This was the first time that Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost their first three games in the history of the IPL.
