After contrasting starts to the IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (RR) will face off in a group stage match at Mumbai on April 15 (Thursday). DC started life under new captain Rishabh Pant with a seven-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. However, RR suffered a four-run defeat against Punjab Kings in a high-scoring match. Chasing a mammoth 222 for win, RR’s new skipper Sanju Samson (119 off 63 balls) played a blinder of an innings. However, he couldn’t get his side over the line. Samson had single-handedly kept RR in the contest, playing some delightful strokes during his knock which featured 12 boundaries and seven sixes.

To make matters worse, RR were will be without Ben Stokes for the remainder of IPL 2021. He broke his finger in the first game and was subsequently ruled out of the tournament.

DC, on the other hand, had a perfect start to their campaign as they beat CSK with ease. Batting first, CSK made a competitive 188-7.

But Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw’s 138-run opening partnership laid the foundation for what was an easy win. Both Dhawan (85 off 54) and Shaw (72 off 38) were in attack mode and looked in complete control in the middle.

Team news

Stokes is the big miss for Rajasthan, with either David Miller or Liam Livingstoke likely to fill the fourth overseas slot. For Delhi, South African pace duo Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will be available for selection.

The two had to undergo a week-long quarantine and thus missed the team’s opening fixtures. Whether or not they are brought in straight away remains to be seen.
