Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have dominated the powerplay in the ongoing 2021 edition, to a massive extent. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have delivered spectacular performances, smashing the ball to all corners of the ground. The mix of a young aggressive opener with an experienced veteran has worked wonders, leaving the opposition bowlers in a state of complete panic.

The highest powerplay score (67/0) in the ongoing edition was registered by the two openers in a league clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The second highest score (65/0) in the first six overs has been recorded by the Delhi-based franchise against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). There has a slight change in the trend when it comes to the third largest score (65/2), with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registering the same against the Chennai-based franchise. However, the domination continues in the case of the fourth and fifth highest scores as well.

DC finished with a score of 63/0 in tonight’s IPL 2021 league encounter against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The fifth highest score (62/1) was recorded by the Delhi-based franchise in their previous league match against the Punjab-based franchise. Dhawan and Shaw have registered the most 50-run partnerships by a pair in IPL 2021. It will be interesting to see whether the two openers can maintain the same impact throughout the course of the ongoing edition.

Harpreet Brar Extends Elite List Of Dismissals

DC skipper Rishabh Pant smashed his 300th boundary in T20s, during tonight’s clash against PBKS. The game further marked the first time Steve Smith and Kagiso Rabada combined to take an IPL wicket. Spinner Harpreet Brar accounted for the dismissal of Shaw during the league encounter. His list of dismissals in the cash-rich league now includes Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers and Prithvi Shaw.

Brar had accounted for the dismissals of Kohli, Maxwell and De Villiers during the franchise’s previous game, helping the Punjab-based franchise emerge victorious in a tense clash.

The previous encounter of the day was between SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). It witnessed Australian opener David Warner getting dropped from the lineup of the Hyderabad-based franchise in an exceedingly rare instance.
