Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla’s father dies due to COVID-19

Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla’s father, Pramod Chawla, has unfortunately lost his battle against COVID-19. Piyush Chawla took to Instagram to inform about the death of his father due post COVID-19 complications.

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan, on Monday took to Twitter to inform about the death of Piyush Chawla’s father. Pathan has extended his condolences to his former Indian teammate and his family who are mourning Pramod Chawla’s death.

Coronavirus impacts Indian cricketers

“My dear brother Piyush Chawla’s father, Pramod uncle is no more. My deepest condolences to you and your family. I pray that you go thru this difficult time with patience. Uncle was a great soul and full of life. COVID has taken one more life,” Irfan Pathan wrote on Twitter, on Monday (May 10).

Last week, Indian cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy lost her sister to COVID-19 within three weeks of her mother losing the battle against the deadly second wave of the coronavirus-induced pandemic.

Piyush Chawla was a part of the Mumbai Indians camp during IPL 2021. He was purchased for INR 2.4 crore in the February acution. However, he did not get a game this season so far. IPL 2021 was suspended midway due to the coronavirus and is likely to be completed later this year. However, there have been no reported cases of coronavirus in the Mumbai Indians camp.

Mumbai Indians achieved their highest successful chase in IPL history when they chased down 219 against Chennai Super Kings in Delhi. Kieron Pollard blasted 87 off 34 balls to ensurethe five-time champions continued their domination of MS Dhoni’s team.
