We often get to see cricketers celebrate in different styles after taking wickets or scoring centuries. And, veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined the list now. However, he was seen doing the famous step of Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa after he removed Dinesh Chandimal during the first T20I between India and Sri Lanka in Lucknow on Thursday as well.

Chandimal had stepped out of his crease to face Jadeja’s ball that turned and beat the outside edge and Ishan Kishan quickly grabbed and took off the bails as the batter failed to return and was stumped. Earlier, Ishan Kishan smacked a blistering 56-ball 89 before Shreyas Iyer scored a blitzy unbeaten 57 as India posted a competitive total of 199 for 2 against Sri Lanka.

Ishan, who failed to do well in the preceding white-ball series against West Indies, finally lived up to the expectations and justified his multi-million dollar IPL tag with 10 fours and three sixes as well. The youngster from Jharkhand added a 111-run innings for the opening wicket with his skipper Rohit Sharma (44 off 32) to set the stage for a formidable total after being put in to bat first.

Iyer then used the opportunity with both hands, hitting five fours and two sixes in 28 balls to take India to a huge total as well. Meanwhile, bowlers did well too as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Venkatesh Iyer picked up two wickets whereas Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one each and sealed the deal for India.

“The way he constructed the innings was so good” – Rohit Sharma on Ishan Kishan

After the win, captain Rohit Sharma said, “I know Ishan for a long time now. I know the mindset he has. I know the ability he has as well. It was just about getting the kind of game that he had today. It was so pleasing to watch from the other end. The way he constructed the innings was so good, that is usually a challenge for him. We were talking in the middle about finding gaps. Very happy with Jadeja’s return. We want more from him that is why we asked him to bat higher.”

He continued: “You will see that happening more and more in the games that he plays for India. I want him to bat up the order more. He is a very improved batter, so we will try and see if we can promote him going forward. We are very clear with what we want to achieve with him in white ball cricket. I love playing on big grounds, because that is when you will be tested as a batter. Here you got to use a bit of batsmanship as well. In Kolkata you just needed to time the ball. It’s consistently happening. We are dropping easy catches. Our fielding coach has some work to do. Come Australia, we want to be a great fielding side.”
