India will host South Africa for the five-T20I series starting from June 9. This will be the first-time since 2019 that the two sides will be facing off in a bi-lateral T20I series 2019. The last series ended in a 1-1 draw. The inaugural contest will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The venue for the second match will move to the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack which will be played on June 12 while the final three matches will be hosted in Vizag and Rajkot on the 12th, 14th respectively with the last matched scheduled on 17th in Bengaluru.
The Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) named an 18-member squad for the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against South Africa. Rising fast bowlers Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh who impressed with their respective performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 have been named in the squad which is set to be led by KL Rahul while star batters Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma have been rested from the series.

South Africa defeated India 2-0 in the first-two matches to take a early lead in the series. The visitors have also recorded their highest ever successful chase in the T20I of 212 runs in the series but India bounced back in the third match with a win. Their win also ensured that the series stays alive with the likes of Ishan Kishan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar among the top contributors in the side.
