Team India will play against Ireland and England in the shortest format of the game. With this, they will try to settle the initial squad for the upcoming marquee event – T20 World Cup, which is slated to take place in Australia later this year. However, Team India have not done well in the ICC competitions in recent times, whereas they did well in the bilateral series. However, after their poor shows, many have lashed out at team India’s conservative approach with their batting order, which was the main reason behind their poor show in the 2021 edition of the mega tournament.

While speaking before the series, former Indian selector Saba Karim has said that the team management needs to have a tough discussion with the top three batters and figure out what approach they need to take while batting in the T20 game as well. Notably, apart from KL Rahul, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to live up to the expectations in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.

“A tough call for the selectors. At this stage, I’m sure all three of them (Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul) will walk into the XI. If such criticism is being leveled at them, it is up to them to find a solution so that they emerge in a much better manner,” Saba Karim said on a show arranged by sony sports network. “And if it’s not happening then the team management or selectors need to have hard conversations with the individuals involved because there is stiff competition coming through. The players whom you have named have enough experience to make the required changes in their batting so that it is beneficial for the national side. I’m sure they understand the needs of modern T20 batting.”

However, Team India have not played with their full-strength squad since the World Cup. Even, they have not played under their full-time captain Rohit Sharma too in all the games. And, India would be hoping to perform well against Eoin Morgan-led England, who looked to be in the top condition after their convincing win against the Netherlands in the recently concluded ODI series as well.
