India vs England: Virat Kohli, Jonny Bairstow engage in war of words

At the onset of Day 3, Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow, were involved in a war of words while the former India captain was fielding at the slips. The matter turned out to be tense as Bairstow was seen arguing with Kohli. The former India captain, later, was seen going back to his fielding position and silencing his English counterpart with a ‘finger on your lips’ gesture.

Kohli was heard saying, “Shut up. Just stand and bat” to Bairstow during the 33rd over while India captain Jasprit Bumrah was in the bowling attack. The prolific India batter did not stop at it as he was seen sledging Bairstow again after a few moments. It was, incidentally, not the first time such an event broke out as Kohli had sledged Bairstow on Day 2 as well by using New Zealand veteran Tim Southee’s name.
