Team India registered a comfortable win over West Indies in the second T20I. But they were in trouble when Rovman Powell (68* off 36) hit two sixes in the final over as 25 runs were needed in the final over. They almost looked to take the team home. However, India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant backed Harshal Patel, who bowled a slower yorker and India eventually won the game as well as the series with one game in hand.

“After getting hit for two sixes, the talk was to try bowling outside off, but then he ultimately backed himself. There’s obviously pressure in the game, but as individuals, we tend to focus on our skill rather than thinking too much,” Rishabh Pant said at the post-match press conference.

However, Harshal Patel has bowled two overs at the end in both matches. While Pant was asked if he has been preparing as the death bowler, the young batsman stated that they are trying out a few options to get the team combination right for the upcoming T20 World Cup in October-November this year.

“There’s still time for the World Cup, so the plan is to try out as many options as possible. We are trying to find out which positions suit whom and how they can benefit the team. So we’re trying out several options, whatever seems right for the team eventually will be final,” Rishabh Pant, who was awarded the Player of the Match for his quickfire 52* off 28, shared.

Meanwhile, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami’s return to the side, Harshal Patel could be out of the playing XI as well. On the other hand, since the team have won the series, Rahul Dravid and Co. can try out a couple more options in the final game on Sunday as well.
