India recorded a comfortable victory over Sri Lanka on Saturday to build an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20 series. The Lankan Lions posted a strong total of 183-5 in the first innings but the hosts chased the total down with relative ease. The middle order of the Indian team played a crucial part in the team’s victory, with Shreyas Iyer leading the charge. The batter scored an unbeaten 77 to guide his team to victory. Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson also played brilliantly on the day as well. Sri Lanka did have a good start with the bowl as they bagged their first wicket for just nine runs. However, the brilliance of Iyer saw the home team record a fine win. India scored 186-3 in just 17.1 overs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma fell cheaply as he only scored one run while his opening partner Ishan Kishan scored 16 runs off 15 deliveries. However it was Shreyas Iyer’s day as he played an absolutely masterful knock to help his team win the tie. A total in excess of 180 is always difficult to chase down in a T20 match but Iyer’s brilliance shined through. The newly acquired Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player certainly justified his price at the auction as he scored an unbeaten 77 runs off 44 deliveries in an innings that included six boundaries and four sixes.
