After beating New Zealand in back-to-back games, Australia will be trying to sweep the ODI series when they play against each other at the Cazalys Stadium in Cairns on Sunday, September 11. While Australia won the first match from the jaw of a defeat, they managed to win convincingly over New Zealand in the second encounter as well.
Steve Smith’s 61 runs off 94 deliveries helped Australia post 195 runs on the board while batting first in the condition that helped in bowling. In reply, New Zealand could only manage 82 runs. Adam Zampa picked up five wickets while the trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Sean Abbott restricted the Kiwi batters with their stunning bowling.
Australia has so far won 94 ODIs against New Zealand while the latter has won only 39 times. And, seven ODIs ended in no contests between the two teams as well. Moreover, New Zealand’s last win against Australia in Australia in an ODI came much before in 2011. And, the final game will be a nail-biting one as well.
