The third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will start on the 6th of December and go on till the 23rd. It will be a league-based competition and will feature five teams – Colombo Stars, Dambulla Giants, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy Falcons who will battle it out for the all-important trophy and bragging rights. A total of 20 league matches will be played, one team will be eliminated at the end of it, while the remaining four will enter the playoffs, comprising four games including the final. The teams finishing first and second on the points table will play in Qualifier 1. The third and fourth-placed sides will face each other in the Eliminator.

The winning side of the Qualifier 1 will go straight to the finals. Meanwhile, the winner of the Eliminator will take on the loser of Qualifier 1 for a place in the grand finale. The games will be played at three venues – Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele and R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Jaffna Kings led by Thisara Parera will enter the tournament as the defending champions, all the other teams also look well-balanced this time around with some big international names featuring in their squads.

Both the SonyLIV app and website will stream LPL 2022 live. The Lanka Premier League 2022 will be televised live on the Sony Sports Ten 1, Sony Sports Ten 1, Sony Sports Ten 1 HD, Sony Sports Ten 5, and Sony Sports Ten 5 HD TV networks in India.
