Australian cricketers Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson have pulled out of IPL 2021 because of personal reasons, as cited by the official Twitter handle of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), on Monday (April 26).

The duo have made themselves unavailable for the remainder of the T20 league a day after Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin left the Delhi Capitals squad to be by the side of his family, amid rising COVID-19 concerns in India.

“Adam Zampa & Kane Richardson are returning to Australia for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of IPL season. Royal Challengers Bangalore offers complete support to them in all the possible way we can,” RCB said in an official release.

Zampa and Richardson have joined compatriot Andrew Tye, who left the Rajasthan Royals camp to travel back to Australia this week, in pulling out of the competition.

RCB won their first four games and lost their fifth fixture in IPL 2021 and are now third in the points table behind Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. While Richardson played one game in IPL 2021, Zampa will leave the tournament without getting a game this season.
