Financial aid for 12 para shuttlers has been approved by the sports ministry

The Brazil Para-Badminton International, a Level 2 event, is a part of the Paris Paralympics pathway for 2023, moreover, the Sports Ministry’s Mission Olympic Cell (MOC), which includes Pramod Bhagat and Mansi Joshi, has authorized financial support for 12 para-badminton players. Pramod Bhagat, Manasi Joshi, Krishna Nagar, Sukant Kadam, Nitesh Kumar, Manoj Sarkar, Suhas Yathiraj, Tarun Dhillon, Mandeep Kaur, Nithya Sre, Parul Parmar, and Manisha Ramadass are among the para shuttlers who have received help.

 The money will pay for financial support for the athletes and their support staff and has been approved under the ministry’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). The funding will cover the travel, visa, and insurance expenses for the athletes and the support staff as well as their boarding and lodging, competition entry fees, and Out of Pocket Allowance (OPA) for other daily financial needs.

Para Shuttlers and their achievements

Pramod Bhagat

Indian professional para-badminton player Pramod Bhagat was born on June 4th, 1988 in the Bihar district of Vaishali. He is currently ranked second in the world in men’s singles SL3 para-badminton, and he won a gold medal in that event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. On June 4, 1988, Pramod was born in the Bihar district of Vaishali’s Hajipur.

Manasi Joshi

Indian para-badminton player Manasi Girishchandra Joshi was born on June 11, 1989. She previously held the title of women’s singles SL3 world champion. She began her career as a professional athlete in 2015, and in 2020 she was ranked first in the world. 2 in the women’s singles SL3 division.  On March 8, 2022, she has ranked first in the world no1 in the women’s singles SL3 division.

Krishna Nagar

Indian para-badminton player Krishna Nagar hails from Rajasthan. In the Men’s Singles SH6 para-badminton category, he held the second-best overall ranking. He won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Krishna Nagar took home a bronze medal in the singles competition at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia.

 At the 2019 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships in Basel, Switzerland, Krishna Nagar and fellow countryman Raja Magotra won the men’s doubles silver medal. In the singles event, he also took home a bronze.

Sukant Kadam

Sukant Indukant Kadam, an Indian professional para-badminton player, was born on May 9, 1993. He made his international debut in 2014, and on June 12, 2017, he rose to the second-best position in the world for the SL4 category. In 2017, he claimed victory at the Uganda Para-Badminton International. He is presently residing in Pune, Maharashtra. In the small town of Kautholi in the Sangli region of Maharashtra, Kadam was born and raised.

Manisha Ramadass

 Manisha Ramadass is a professional para-badminton player from India who was born on January 27, 2005.  After making her international debut in 2022, she attained the top spot in the SU5 division on August 22, 2022. In 2022, she captured her first victory at the Spanish (level 2) Para-Badminton International. She resides in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, at the moment.
