Despite technological advancements in spikes and a talented crop of sprinters vying to break his world records, Usain Bolt believes his 100m and 200m records will stand unchallenged for a long time. Bolt said he missed the “excitement of the crowd” in an interview with the French newspaper L’Equipe but ruled out any possibility of a comeback. Since he retired six years ago, the Jamaican has stopped enthralling audiences around the world with his feats on the track and now spends his time chasing after his daughter, who is three.

The new Hayward Field track, which is regarded as one of the fastest in the world, was the perfect venue, according to Bolt, for an assault on his records at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. “Athletics has undergone numerous changes in recent years. According to Usain Bolt, his records “should continue to stand for a while.” It would have been best to bring them down last year. We know that the Eugene track is the fastest of all time, and the athletes, some of whom were extremely talented, all wore new-generation super spikes.”

After winning the 100 and 200-meter gold medals at three consecutive Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016, Bolt retired as the most decorated sprinter in history. The 100-meter (9.58 seconds) and 200-meter (19.19 seconds) world records set by the 36-year-old legend at the Berlin World Championships in 2009 are still untouched. Many think Bolt’s 200-meter record is his weakest and that he could have worked harder to break the 19-second barrier.

Usain Bolt on Erriyon Knighton

“I might have been able to push myself to the finish line in 9.52 sec during the Beijing (2008). Even though it is superior to 9.58, Bolt said that there aren’t any significant differences. Under 19, though, that’s a barrier. We never saw my true potential, according to my coach, because of the way I processed information. I do, however, sincerely believe that I would have failed if I had approached them otherwise.”

Bolt has named American phenom Erriyon Knighton as a potential track superstar, even though he currently thinks his records are secure. When he set a world under-20 record for the 200 meters in 2022 at the age of 18, 18-year-old Knighton became the fourth-fastest runner in history. If Erriyon Knighton has the right coach, he will succeed over 200 meters, in my opinion, Bolt predicted that the up-and-coming athlete would succeed.

Knighton, who won bronze in Oregon and made history by becoming the youngest person to win a 200-meter medal at a World Championship, has his sights set on Bolt’s 200-meter world record. Knighton claimed, “Anybody going to break the record of the all-time great, but I still have to take each one out one by one. The task won’t be simple; it will be challenging. I believe I am capable of doing it, but I will need to work hard and have a lot of confidence. “
