Only one week afterwards, Duplantis broke his own record by another centimetre, reaching 6.18m at the IAAF World Indoor Tour event in Glasgow, UK. Duplantis broke Sergey Bubka’s 26-year-old men’s outdoor pole vault world record with a jump of 6.15m at the Diamond League meeting in Rome in September 2020.
In the span of two weeks, Duplantis also broke his own world mark twice, first by clearing 6.19m at the World Athletics Indoor Tour competition in Belgrade, Serbia, and cleared 6.20m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in the same city. At the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Duplantis improved upon his previous record by breaking it once more by clearing 6.21 meters.
