Spain’s Ana Peleteiro Brión, who holds the current young national record in the triple jump, was born on 2 December 1995 in Ribeira. In 2011, the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation gave her the Best Young Athlete title. She broke the all-time greatest European record in the youth division in 2012, when she was 16 years old, and went on to win the title of World Junior Champion in this discipline. Her accomplishment was honored with the HRH Queen Letizia (now the Princess Leonor Award) Princess of Asturias Award, given by the Spanish Higher Sports Council.
Peleteiro currently holds the title of European champion in the indoor triple jump owing to a leap that broke the absolute Spanish record and earned her the title of Best Spanish Athlete for 2019 from the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. In addition, she is getting ready for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
On July 12, 2012, in Barcelona, Ana Peleteiro made a leap of 14.17 meters to win the title of world junior champion. The Galician athlete did not let a 1 m/s headwind or her happy tears from jumping 13.96 meters on her previous attempt stop her from lighting up the globe and setting a world junior record in the process.
