Usain Bolt is a former Jamaican professional sprinter. He owns multiple world records in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay. He is largely regarded as the best sprinter of all time and currently owns the world records for the 100, 200, and 4 X100-meter relay. Bolt is the only sprinter to have won the 100-meter and 200-meter Olympic titles at three consecutive Olympics. He has won eight Olympic gold medals overall in 2008, 2012, and 2016. He also won two gold medals in the 4 x 100 relay.

In his early years, Bolt grew up idolizing the European football (soccer) sides Real Madrid and Manchester United. However, his high school coaches directed him toward track and field. The 2002 World Junior Championships was where Bolt made his name as a track prodigy. In that tournament, Bolt, then 15 years old, won gold in the 200 meters in front of 36,000 spectators at Jamaica’s National Stadium in Kingston, becoming the youngest-ever male world junior champion in any event.

At the 2008 Olympic Games, Bolt became the first man since American Carl Lewis in 1984 to win the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay in the same Olympics and the first to establish world records in all three races (9.69 sec, 19.30 sec, and 37.10 sec, respectively) in all three events. Except for a 100 m false start in 2011, he won successive World Championship gold medals in the 100 m, 200 m, and 4 X 100 m relay from the year 2009 to 2015. He is the most successful male athlete in the World Championships.
