Shaunae Miller-Uibo is a Bahamas athlete who represents the country in 400 m and 200 m disciplines. She won the women’s 400 meter event in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020 which made her a two-time Olympic champion.  She claimed the 400 m World junior gold in 2010 at age 16 and the World youth title the following year. She achieved the 200 m/400 m double in 2017 and has since won four diamond league championships in the 200 m and 400 m events. In both disciplines, she holds the tour records. She has many world championship medals, including a gold medal in the 400 metres in Eugene, Oregon in 2022. Shaunae has the world’s fastest women’s records in straight races of 150 m and 200 m.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo is the daughter of Shaun Miller and Mabelene Miller. She was born on 15 April, 1994, and raised in Nassau. Shaunae was born into an Afro-Bahamian family. Shaunae expressed an early interest in athletics. When she was a student at St. Augustine College, she started to pursue her passion of being an athlete by competing in sports competitions. Shaunae relocated to the United States after completing her high school studies in order to enroll at the University of Georgia in Athens and join the collegiate team Georgia Bulldogs. Lance Burman recognised Shaunae Miller’s athletic prowess in 2014 and persuaded her to join the Pure Athletics Club. She has been training at the club under Lance’s instruction since 2015. She married to Maicel Uibo in 2017.

Shaunae Miller’s took off in 2007 as she competed well at the CAC Age Group Championships (U14), winning three bronze medals in the 80 meter dash, 60 meter hurdles, and long jump, as well as two silver medals in the shot put and hexathlon. At the CARIFTA Games in 2009, Shaunae earned two bronze medals in the U-17 division for the 4×100- and 4×400-meter relays. At the Pan-American Junior Games that year, she won a bronze medal in the 4×400 meter relay. Shaunae earned a gold medal in the 400-meter race and two silver medals in the 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays at the CAC Junior Championships (U17) in 2010. At the Bahamas National Championships that year, she captured her maiden national 400-meter title. Shaunae has won six national titles in total – four in 400 meters and two in 200 meters.
