Jessica Hull is an Australian distance runner who specializes in the 1500- and 5000-meter races. In the Olympic semi-final in Tokyo in 2020, she ran the 1500-meter race in 3:58.81 seconds, breaking the previous Australian record. With a time of 4:01.82, she finished seventh in the Oregon World Championships in 2022. In July 2019, Hull joined the (now-defunct) Nike Oregon Project after signing a contract with Nike, Inc. While attending the University of Oregon, she was awarded seven All-American accolades.

The year 2020 was a particularly memorable year for Jessica. At the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in January, she broke the record for the 1500m Indoor area (Oceania). She won the 5000-meter national championships in Melbourne in February, securing her place on the Olympic team. Jessica broke the 5000-meter national record in August in the Monaco Diamond League. She achieved a new 3000m record at the Doha Diamond League in September and set a new 1500m record at the Berlin ISTAF.

Jessica was in good form in early 2022, breaking the Australian Indoor records in the mile and 3000m with runs of 4:24.06 and 8:39.79, respectively. With a sixth-place finish in the 3000m in 8:44.97, she maintained her form into the World Indoor Championships. In May 2022, on the Diamond League circuit, she ran strongly in three races spread over two weeks after capturing her second National 5000m title in April. She ran a 3:59.31 1500m on her home track, Hayward Field, and an Australian mile record of 4:19.89 in Portland on July 2, 2022.

Jess remained strong throughout the rounds at the World Championships, finishing second in her heat and third in the semi-final. In the final, she headed a second pack for a part of the race until finishing seventh in 4:01.82. She tested positive for COVID following the race, forcing her to isolate for five days and skip the 5000 meters. She healed in time to participate at the Commonwealth Games, deciding to run only the 1500m. However, she was probably not at her best as she finished seventh in the straight 1500m final. Her final three finishes over 3000 meters were eighth in Monaco (4:01.73), 12th in Brussels, and 11th in Lausanne.
