Christopher Nilsen, better known by the name name Chris Nilsen, is an American pole vault and high jump athlete. He has an Olympic silver medal from the pole vault event at the Summer Olympics 2020, with a jump of 5.97 m. Additionally, he earned the bronze medal at the 2022 World Indoor Championships and the silver medal in the 2022 World Championships. Nilsen has won the pole vault competition in NCAA Track and Field three times, and he has been named to the NCAA Division I First Team six times. Additionally, he holds the 5.80 m and 5.86 m indoor and outdoor school records for the pole vault for the South Dakota Coyotes.

For the eighth time in that season, Nilsen was chosen the Summit League student-athlete of the week. After winning his third straight league pole vault title, he was also given the prize for the men’s most amazing performance.
